   Has anyone used chix manure on their fairways as a fertilizer? Can anyone share their tips on usage? I have used turkey manure many years ago on our greens that was applied as the course closed for the winter w/no play. Now this application would be made come spring & on a course full of people. Curious if this breaks down quickly, clumps up on rollers & is worth the hassle vs the benefits it provides.

   I have started using some from a local supplier here in AZ. They have come a long way in making it a viable product... smaller particle size... only a reasonable amount of smell for the first day...

   Many years ago, I somehow got involved with Foster Farms when they were trying to find a use and outlet for their manure. As I recall, it was hard to deal with the MANY tons required per acre. It was almost like topdressing. Then there was the issues with it sticking to the mower rollers, and don't forget about the smell. They were experimenting with adding different scents to the material, but it was still manure, any way you slice it. Good Luck

   If you have questions about chicken manure products, please contact me directly. I want to avoid a response that would be considered a commercial advertisement. I started working with it about 15 years ago on an Arnold Palmer Signature Course that I built. I was trying to develop a totally organic agronomic management plan that included the elimination of conventional pesticides. Now I make and market a fertilizer derived from chicken manure compost that is used on some of the finest courses in the country.
