For those of you that do heavier topdressing prior to winter, curious as to how thick of a layer you put on but also what machine you use to do it. I have a TyCrop ProPass 180 but always hard to get a nice uniform layer using spinners, always have that little overlap layer. I've borrowed the Vortec brush attachment from a fellow Super, it's ok but still not the consistency I'd like to see. I'd do it by hand but I'm sure my guys would wanna shoot me after the 1st green was done.

    Thanks,
    Justin

We just finished topdressing greens. I wish I could give you lbs per thousand but I just went with the setting of 2 on the Turfco F12D pull behind drop topdresser. They might have a chart on their website.
It looks heavy when it goes down but after it dries it seems to fall into the canopy and is barely noticeable.
We do not drag it in as I have seen a couple of clubs that did and the spring result wasn't good.
We are closed and will remain so until April, so there is no playability issue involved.
Again I would be very careful about dragging in if you have snow or ice buildup over the winter...especially if it's Poa

Learning that wet sand is working better than dry. Dry just has to much ability to bounce as well as drift with the wind. Votec brush on ProPass 180 door on 1.5" and belt at 10, putting a nice layer across. Just trying to get the operator to get spacing down so there aren't gaps between passes.

Red, thanks for the info. I'm on the fence weather to do a quick once over with cocomat to try and even it out a bit, I'll see how it settles here over the next week and if some rain washes it in.

We try and bury them here leaving just the green tips showing. Don't worry about dragging it in, and in the spring do another topdressing and drag that in. The fall rains, winter snow and early spring rains will drag it in and settle it for you. Can't really get it too thick unless you bury too much of the plant.
