Has anyone been dealing with these chargers failing? When we got our last fleet of E-Z-Go 36v TXTPDS golf carts in 2009 they came out with this new solid state high frequency charger. During the initial 2 year warranty period we had at least 12-16 fail that E-Z-Go replaced. The last 8 or 9 failures they replaced them with a newer silver model of charger. We are still having failures with the original chargers and now that we are out of the warranty period we apparently are outta luck and on our own for replacement at $343 ea. These chargers, from what I can gather, are non-repairable and once they stop working they are thrown away. I just would like to know that we are not the only ones dealing with this piece of crap charger.

I have more than I care to mention. Luke has been doing what he can, but for the most part his hands have been tied because it is all on the service side and corporate.....they are dragging their feet on everything. This fleet has been a nightmare. Carts delivered with loose motor mounting bolts. 12 months after delivery started having major hub failure. Discovered they installed the castle nut on the rear axles hand tight and never torqued it down properly..."someone dropped the ball at the factory" (their words, not mine). They came and replaced all hubs. 12-14 months in we started having major battery failure. They came in and tested all batteries and ended up replacing 60% of the batteries. On carts they determined that only some batteries didn't pass their battery testing they mixed and matched old with new. Still dealing with this. The roof bolts are all tearing out of the roofs. Came in yesterday to replace bolts and install larger washers. Have had a few carts with bad input shafts. To no surprise they claim they have never seen this problem before.

If I have my way this will be the last E-Z-Go fleet we ever have.

I remember hearing that back in the early 80's in Florida, when we had a new fleet of E-Z-Go gas carts, I think they were the first year they had the oil injection so we didn't have to mix our own oil and gas. The problem we had were the frames cracking, by the time it was all said and done, the factory had changed out the frames 3 times to get the problem corrected. They were saying our course was too bumpy

    Keith,
At Ridge Creek Dinuba G. C. we have 60, 2008 EZ-GO electric carts. Have had numerious 12 volt Trojan T 1260 failures, way to many for the number of rounds on the carts. The battery water refill unit fail to show battery cell low of water. Our gas range cart and beverage carts had the rear axle hub failures, EZ-GO added a washer under the hub nut. EZ-GO service has been slow to really slow. I had to talk to the EZ-GO people at the GCSAA Show booth before they came to do the cart repair the first year.

Mr. Bob Tillema....the first superintendent I ever worked for. How ya doing? I'll be out your way end of March/first of April. I'll try to stop by.

Anyway, our batteries were the T-105 6v. The local distributor for Trojan came out and did the testing and replacement. After we continued to have problems with the ones they didn't replace, I noticed that E-Z-Go was replacing the batteries with U.S. Batteries the 2200 series. I think the whole 12v golf cart battery in fleet carts is/was a terrible idea and I believe most manufacturers have moved away from them...especially in fleet applications.

I think hindsight has proved you correct with the failure of the 12v system in carts. It'a all about amperage and you get that from numbers 6........8's vs 4........12's. We have the first fleet of Club Cars with the 4 x 12v...ok but still leave a lot to be desired.

I would start raising hell with your rep and threaten to change over to Club Car or Yamaha carts on the next fleet if they do not warranty your chargers. E-Z-Go bent over backwards for us on our new fleet last month because times are extremely hard right now and they cannot afford to lose a customer.

So back to my original question. Has anyone had any issues with the powerwise qe chargers?

    Keith,
We have the Powerwise GE 48 volt chargers, We have had about 12 failures of 60 units. EZ-GO has replaced them with a silver case unit, looks a lot like the Powerwise GE unit. EZ-GO repairman stated that EZ=GO knows they have a problem with the Powerwise GE units.
