Toro 3250-D drop scalping

    If you have an older Toro 3250-D with DPAs that's doing this (photos) when the cutting units are lowered, check to see if you have the lift chains instead of the Hook-lift, offset (1.25") 110-2397 which come with the newer DPAs.

    It took us over a year to figure this one out. It's not in any service bulletin but it should be. Just sharing this in case someone else is having this problem.

    Roland, I am a little confused. Was it the chains that was causing it and the hook lifts fixed the problem or the other way around. Maybe you can just tell us what you had and what you did to fix the issue. I get these marks from time to time and figured they were from the reel dropping to fast or heavy. It normally happens when we are wet.

    The chains were causing the problem. The hook lifts (which come standard now) eliminated the problem. The chains were allowing the reels to dangle in a way that allowed the reels to "walk" when lowered.
