   Rev limiter or coil are the two possibilities that come to my mind. In most cases with us it has been the rev limiter.

   We have had rev limiter issues as well, but I didn't associate it with being really hot.....maybe we are just used to it being really hot? Our issues were last season.

   If relatively new, could be vapor lock...carryall has kit for gas tank and cap to solve issue.
