Anyone know which course the National Championship will be played on? A friend will decide on playing in the National Championship or Golf Classic depending on where the championship flight is played.

    Chris,

I'll jump in as someone who knows enough to be dangerous. The courses are lined up but I don't believe have been assigned to a specific event yet. I will contact JD and Jim Cummins to have them post a where we are now and when information will be finalized for those like you/us wondering.

I am really excited about the courses in the rotation and the increasing numbers in participation for all of the golf events we have available over the last couple years. We are constantly trying to improve the event with competitive and fun events, great networking opportunities and just making sure that those who come have a great time.

    See you in San Diego.

    Chris,

Sorry for the delay, it falls on my shoulders. I thought I sent an email before taking my sons on a trip to CA last week and saw today that there was nothing in my sent file, so my bad. When I inquired with Jessica Thompson, Tournament Manager, she immediately replied with an answer.

It may be as late as mid-December before courses might be assigned to a specific part of the event, Championship, Classic, Scramble due to many factors with the registration numbers being the most important one.

We do have our first Tournament Task Group (not a Standing Committee anymore) scheduled for next Monday the 28th. If there is any more firm information shared then I will pass it along shortly after. The GIS website including tournament tab is up and running with as much information as we have set now. Registration opens November 3rd.

    Updated information.

Tournament registration opens on November 3rd and on November 10th there will be a media day held at Aviara, the host hotel and golf course in Carlsbad CA, just north of San Diego. The courses for The Championship will be announced at that event.

    I hope that helps.

Trying to do some planning. Any idea what the practice round reservation process will be for Torrey South? Advance tee time reservation is open through San Diego county but many times we get a discount as a tournament participant.

    Chris,

I spoke with Jim Cummins, tournament director this morning. There will be some practice round tee times blocked for GCSAA participants (in any of the events) at Torrey Pines and they will be available for sign up about a month before the event. By the San Diego County regulations, no discounts are given for non residents there but the other tournement courses will have discounted practice round rates.

In GCSAA's "This Week", this week, there will be an announcement about courses being used for the specific events. Keep an eye out for that which should answer your earlier inquiry.

    See you in San Diego.
