This might be post better suited for a new thread and one that I am sure has been posted in others, but what is with the low wages? There are many assistant jobs that pay better than the posted super positions and come with less headaches (but maybe not free parking?). I have been told by a couple hiring managers that it is a 'buyer's market' and they know that they will get takers for the jobs as posted, but I am starting to wonder if there is anything that the local and national associations can do to better promote the profession and value one will get from hiring a super at a living wage, or is it a mute point as long as people are taking the jobs for such little pay. When one has a job it is easy to stand on a soap box and say that no one should take the jobs until the wages increase, but I know it's not that easy when someone is supporting a family and scraping by to make ends meet.
Thoughts?
