I spent a good bit of time at GIS talking to all y'all about what is happening in other states with phosphorous. Connecticut is about to ban the use of phosphorous. We will testify, at the state legislative building on Wednesday, to have golf excluded from the ban.
I am seeking feedback on anecdotal information, talking points and current research that may have worked in other regions to help our position here in Connecticut. Thanks to all who have already gave me their time.

Phosphorus has been banned in Wisconsin for two years now. I haven't seen any difference in turf quality without phosphorus. You might be surprised, but it may not really be a problem. You can still apply phosphorus in Wisconsin if your soil test shows a deficiency

I think there is a possible science-based option that allows turfgrass managers to apply modest amounts of phosphorus if soil P levels and plant P levels drop below a reasonable threshold. Identifying a reasonable threshold is the tricky part.

Dr. Micah Woods and I have put together some new guidelines focused upon minimum levels for sustainable turfgrass nutrition (MLSN). The guidelines are a work in progress, but they are backed by solid data. Here is a link to a couple of pages that describe the work and associated videos:
