CONGRATULATIONS!
You are a few years away but the best advise I can give anyone who has a child getting recruited to play a sport in college is to enjoy the experience. My daughter is 17 and will be a senior in high school this year. The recruiting process started for us during her sophomore year , 2010, and we were told it was probably too late for her to get a scholarship. Most of the coaches that began talking to her told her they were already done recruiting for 2012. Technically coaches aren't even supposed to contact you until your junior year. She had offers at DI schools but we would have had to committ before school started last year and she was not ready to do that.
We have visited schools all over the country, met some great people, players, coaches, and parents, and have had a lot of fun. Unless you are an unbelievable pitcher, there are very few full rides in softball. Most of the offers that she has had are a combination of academic and athletic. We are narrowing down the schools and headed to Florida for a showcase event right after Labor Day and hope to get a deal worked out with a school there that has extended an offer.
Here is a link to a web site that I built for her a couple of years ago. Obtaining a scholarship is all about marketing. She has had coaches contact her that have never seen her play but tell her they have visited her website.
