We have a little 9 hole course that has been neglected for years. It was supposed to have been closed this winter for a big sewer line project, so we didn't plan for or purchase any herbicides for weed control. Well, that project has now been put on hold and the golf course looks like total crap and has weeds everywhere-probably the worst I've ever seen. The guy that was managing it left yesterday so I am now tasked with trying to make quick improvement with little to no money to spend. There are some old herbicides in the chemical storage here that have been sitting on the shelf for years and I'm needing some input on what you guys think would be best out of the options listed below. This is on bermudagrass with nearly every broadleaf weed you can think of and poa as the main grassy weed. I'm leaning towards using a sencor, glyphosate and simazine mix. I know Sencor works well, I just don't know how quickly it will knock down these big broadleaves in cooler temps. I've only really used Sencor on Dallis and goose in the summer. I am looking for what will give me the fastest knock down of the broadleaves. At this time, I can live with the poa taking a few weeks to die. What do you guys think?

    Sencor

    Sencor & Simazine

    Round-up, Sencor & Simazine

    Round-up & Simazine

    MSM 60 & Simazine

    Round-up, MSM and Simazine

I know the Sencor is kind of expensive, but if it will give me a quick burn down I would be fine with using it since it is already on the shelf. I will be able to order other herbicides, but that wont be for another week or two.

    Thanks

Alot depends on where you are located. If you are fairly dormant, Roundup by itself should solve your problems. Add the Simazine for some pre-emergent control for the next few months.

If not dormant, I would go with MSM and Simazine. Simazine for the Poa, MSM for some broadleafs.

Sencor isn't being made anymore, but you can get post-patent in various different trade names for about $90/5#. At 1oz/ac, thats about $1.12/ac in cost. Pretty cheap to me. However, I've never used it this time of the year and would be worried about dinging the bermuda coming out of dormancy later in the year.
