The third phase of football season is currently in progress in the southeast.........Feb 4, recruiting day, spring practice and now SEC Media Days, soon to followed by practices in early August and finally kickoff time. Yesterday the two newest members of the SEC were on the agenda to meet the press in Hoover Alabama along with MSU, Auburn, UK and LSU.

One of the three Missouri players that was chosen by Mizzou to attend media day was asked the biggest difference between media day in the Big 12 and that of the SEC. The young man said last year I pulled on a fleece sweat shirt and walked into a room with maybe 10 reporters. This year I had on a coat & tie and walked into room jam packed with media (1042 press credentials were issued)..........I think they take it a little more seriously down here.

.......then, on any given Saturday night, arrests will be made after bar fights, unlawfully carrying concealed weapons, etc. Then, once the regular season is over - but before bowl season- at least one school will have player(s) taken off the bowl roster for some reason or another, due to violations of some rule (or law) or another. Then, after the bowl games, at least one school will lose scholarships or be put on probation based on illegal recruiting activities dating back to on or before Feb 4.

Rumor has it that some of those dismissals will be back for the Mizzou game on September 8th. Go figure.

I think we will be middle of the road. Still don't have the horses to play with the big boys(Bama, LSU) but can play with everyone else. Swamp could be a little difficult in November. They were not real impressive last year but the pundits are sure high on the Gators this season.

Hey what about their 2nd amendment rights? I think FSU makes them sit out a half or is that a series?

Sure I think they will be competitive this season. Not ready to contend but Kyle Field will help them win a few games. They have most of their toughest games at home which is good. Think both schools can finish above Ole Miss, Kentucky and perhaps UT, Vandy and MSU........if they don;t then the league they are coming from was not as good as rumored. I think in a couple of years both will benefit from recruiting athletes to play in the SEC.

You mean they are going to really join the club and start cheating?

You'll have to answer that Ron. I have no knowledge of them cheating or planning on cheating. You need to look at the glass as half full and not half empty all the time.
