Because funding was cut I missed the GCSAA show this year and have a long list of items that I am going to try to do some by Web. #1 is greens covers, My old covers 10-15 years now are thin silver weave that have worked great. We cover the greens every night the frost is likely to happen and pull at sunrise the greens may be frozen but are free of frost and for us this works well. (bent L-93). I could sure use some help in location of this type of cover looking at 18 + covers 75'-100' any help in some company names and web sites would be a great help.

We bought ours from SUR-LINE turf in Alabama. the bring the material to the course and sew the covers right on top of the greens for a custom fit. They sell a couple different types of material, we went with the breathable kind (SL-500 non-woven 100% permeable geotextile @ $.99/sq yd) that can be left on for long periods of time. I think they let in 50% or more sunlight, the hold in a lot of heat, and you can even water your greens right on top of the covers no problem. The only time I wouldn't use it obviously is if you were expecting snow. The covers do not get grommets sewn on, but honestly you don't need them. the material is sewn in such a way that you can just poke a nail right through the cover and it will hold just fine without tearing. I highly recommend them, they had a crew of 3 guys come up and it only took them 2 days to sew on 19 covers. Contact Raymond Heath with Sur-Line turf if interested (205) 333-1776.
