Hello, Please, how long should 5 inch iron piping last? They are 12 years old, water has it´s analysis below. It is alkaline with positive Langlier. It is more or less gypsum dominated which is great as effluent is around the corner.

I am looking at prices now for new piping if necessary. Does anyone still buy 5 inch iron piping for their wells and if so how much does it cost per foot?

Thanks On the phone now to USA to well companies. Siesta now here in Spain.

    Michael

    Mike,

My last course had 6" piping that hadn't been pulled (in what I was told) for 30 years. I pulled the well after the pump broke a shaft and had to cut a hole in the roof to remove it when I did. Turns out the pipe had holes in it as large as a quarter. No wonder we were only pumping 150 gpm with a 60hp motor. A good percentage was going back down the hole.

We did the same as Andy and replaced the old pipe with some from China as it was cheaper and it got holes in it in just a few years.
