I am in Central Alabama growing Crenshaw creeping bent on USGA spec greens. For the past few years we have used dithiopyr on our greens in split apps in April and May with moderate control of goosegrass, but needing better. This year I'd like to switch due to some past phyto from the dithiopyr and less than favorable results. My plan is to apply half rate of Andersons goose and crab in mid March, and the other half about 6 weeks later. I'm needing some advice from guys who have applied this before, just so I'll sleep better after the app..... Any thoughts on methods, rates, watering in, etc.? What works and doesn't work. Thanks in advance.

Just about half the time I've seen it used there were issues. So, if you want to sleep better at night, stick with Dimension but maybe apply earlier.

Have used Scott's for 15 hrs in southwest Tn on Crenshaw. Applied just as you said with no problems. I do apply this myself with a foamer on my drop spreader.

You use a drop spreader for dimension? I was always under the impression that you might get more product down when it is more full; gravity and the weight of the product etc.

Just make sure turf is dry when you apply it. Second make sure that you dont overlap any. Even if you have a slight skip. Only issues i have had was when i overlappes. Then water in. Ive been putting it down in southern Ok for years. Best to have both apps down by mid April. This is on peencross btw.

Have used Goose/Crab the last 3 years - NW OKlahoma on SR1020 bent split applications 6 weeks apart first app late Feb/early March

I have never had any issues with it, I put it out myself on a very calm morning with a good dew and water in immediately. The product is tough to see so the dew lets me see without any overlaps.

Goose and crab were awful when I took over my first year and cleaned it up immediately. Only see a few plants break through towards the very end of summer.

Chad that post sounds like me except with penncross. When will you core them if you haven't already

    David,
We are going to try and core tomorrow and Monday, then make the first app of goose and crab a week or so later.

Chad, we also have Crenshaw right down the road from you at Eagle Point and have been using Bensumec for years without any issues. We do a 6 oz rate in Feb., Apr. and Aug. Sometimes we do a fourth app in Oct. We have been crabgrass and goosegrass free since going to this.

Bentgrass everything in the mid Atlantic. A lot of guys around these parts, present company included, don't do any pre-emergents on our greens. We throw 2-3 ounces per acre of Acclaim in each tank starting in April. It's a low rate but If you get the plants early and often, they never get out of infancy. My two cents
