Hello there,

I have one Toro Vari-time tower still in use for a couple of tees. It has a reset button, an auto manual switch and I think eleven stations that you can set for how many minutes and nothing else up top.

Last year we put on 10 minutes for the three stations we still use and it would irrigate every morning at about 7 :30 AM.

I don´t see any clock and we were all amazed at this convenience. Can anyone tell me please how to get it to irrigate at the same time every day without having to manually operate it?

I was thinking that if we put it in automatic and did a cycle with the three stations it may repeat itself at the time we used it but it is not the case.

Thanks

It's been a long time, but if I remember correctly, these were part of a satellite system. If they have no day or hour wheel, they were given a start signal by the central. I vaguely recall that you might possibly be able to replicate this with a simple timer, like a Intermatic brand timer, but I am not sure where the start impulse needs to connect to. Hopefully someone with more info can chime in, or you might contact someone like Boardtronics for the info at boardtronics.com
Good luck.

You have to have a central for that function to work. They were usually located inside the pupmstation

The VT receives a start from a specific pulse from a central. This is usually through a yellow 12/1 wire and the common. There should be a dial on the modem to select which pulse to read (1-6??) inside the lower half of the pedestal. It might be possible to track the pulse wire back to a former field central location, pump house or maintenance building. I don't think you can get it started without a central, but maybe a VT4 board or something else could go in it's place that could accept a start time. It's been awhile since I've seen those.

Thanks everyone for your input. My irrigation tech has suggested the timer ( I think we already have ) which we can do very cheaply. It simply to start one program of three tees on same hole. No one has touched the old central controller box located in pumphouse number one for at least 4 years which is probably not connected any more to any wiring in the course.

The weird thing is that last year after starting the vari-tine program in the field it irrigated the same time all season. I will check with local Toro dealer here which is 10 minutes from my course and they service all of Spain.

Thanks again Michael
