I am starting to get some heavy complaints about early morning mowing here at the resort. I've held them off for a while but now things are serious. Our putting green and 1st tee are 30 yds from a block of vacation apts. The first 4 holes are adjacent to a load of cabins. Additionally holes 9,10, and 18 are all within 50 yds of 2 more blocks of vacation apts. We start at 7 am, 6 am in summer season, june 15-aug 15.
I've bent over backwards already, saving the putting green til last and devising some strange routes for the mowers to avoid the worse areas. This is time consuming and not effective. I can add we have cut our labor and maintenance budget by over 25% the past few years...times are tough.
The problem is that these owners are on vacation and apparatnly do not like to be woken up:) They love living on the course, just can't get their heads around why we can't start later. The majority are not golfers. I know this topic has come up before but their main argument in this case is that this is a 'vacation' resort and people like to sleep in. I've argued my case about course presentation as well as labor cost issues if we can't get cutting in front of the golf. Just wondering if anyone can relate to this situation and maybe some feedback on how to handle it.
