Diesel Jacobsen triplex, GKIII. Machine started rolling black smoke and would not shut off with key switch. Now the machine won't start.. Injection pump solenoid is my first/best guess. The Jacobsen techs are somewhat stumped, want us to throw money at solenoids/ sensors. If anyone has had similar issues, please chime in. Any help is appreciated.

    Interesting Nick.
I also have a problem with my G-Plex also from the year 2006.
It´s not coming out black smoke and I can start it but I can not shut it off with the key switch.
I haved replaced the key switch and the shut-off soleniod but the problem remains.
Not much help to your start problem but maybe our problems are interconnected somehow?

Pull the solenoid and test it. Turning the key, try to start it and it should pull the solenoid in and one wire should have constant power to hold it open. If it doesn't work then test the wires that plug into the solenoid wire plug. Test by turning the key and see if you get power to one of the wires, then check and see if one also has a constant 12 volts and if so then your solenoid is most likely fried. Black smoke, Id be checking filters. We had one start to run away on us and we had to cut off the air supply to shut it down. The Jac dealer shouldn't have any trouble troubleshooting this issue, it's not that complex of a system and it's their machine so they should be well versed on it.

    Regards,
