What is the ideal ground speed for mowing? Just trying to set the pedal so all operators mow at the same speed. I have Toro 3150's. Thanks.

Love to see this with all the current talk and technology regarding reel rpm speed / mower speed. We run old 3100's and have always just kept mower ground speed down (especially a few feet around hole location and down hills where guys tend to freewheel to get the job done faster, but not more efficiently)
At full engine rpm, operator control, or fool proof pedal adjustment via washers/spacers, optimize what we used to just call "clip of the reel" ... i think they have a new term now, can't recall it right now. and at this full engine rpm, your reel speed is maximized.

Kim, It depends upon reel speed and how many blades are on the cutting unit. If the blades are x distance apart, the machine should travel x distance in the same amount of time.

    I tink.

Mowing speed should be set for ideal clip rate. Refer to owners manual or dealer.

Make sure your staff isn't jamming something against the lever so they can mow in transport. Always amazes me how golf course staff tries to skip corners.....like they are getting paid piece rate or something.

    I remember those.

We used to have someone on the GKIV's would mow with the reels turned off in order to finish faster. Usually on the weekends so they could leave sooner. He was moved to bunker raking, which didn't always sit well with what he had been drinking the night before.

GM 300, it worked well as long as the operator did not know what it was.
