We are looking for 3 new work carts this winter, have used the Toro 2110's since 2006. Pleased with those but wondering what else is out there. Looking at the Hauler, gas and 72V. Also Gators are an option.

We are pulling handmowers around a hilly course, otherwise we don't need anything Heavy duty. Can anybody chim in on what they using? Electric is my preferred choice, just worried about capacity and price of course.

Also looking at some aerifiers, using the Toro 648 currently. We have big greens so was wondering if anyone has used the Toro 864 for greens coring? Thinking it would be Nice to have a larger machine I could use on approaches and landing areas too. Thanks for any tips!

No electric for 'ground engaging' operations-towing, dragging, etc. I got burned years ago on a lease package with electric utility carts as my fleet. They are great for running around, but require a 50% workload (run 50%, sit 50%). We killed a bunch of electric motors and battery sets by using them in normal operations (towing walk mowers, using drag mats, hauling sand/dirt). They may have come a long way in a few years, but be careful what you ask them to do...good luck.

If you haven't already, I would demo an EZ-Go 72V Hauler. These things are a different breed compared to other electric carts and I wouldn't hesitate to buy some at my next purchase. Tons of torque and the charge lasts around 50 miles(several days). We've demoed these in the past many times(rep sometimes stores at my shop for the weekend) and have nothing but positive things to say about them. Although I haven't done it, I would think the thing would have no problem towing a walk mower around a hilly course.

As for the aerifiers, we have an older Toro 660 which is the older version of the 864. Last year we purchased two 648's and they blow the 3-point hitch mounted option out the door. They would be especially good for areas like your approaches, tees, etc...where turning with a tractor would be very time consuming and cumbersome.

I can't agree with Andy more on the aerator option. I was "asked" to use the tractor and 660 for a few years while haveing the 648 in the shed as well. Finally, I did a time, fuel, and wear comparison, and the 648 was not only faster, but it used way less fuel, and left our sloped green surrounds in that much better condition.

If I was looking at aerators today, the most intriguing option I've seen in a while is the Carrier from Redexim. I can only imagine which heads I"d like to have if we owned one. Everything points to be similar to a 648, but more versatile. Anyone have one of these. I'm hoping to demo this coming spring.
