    Guys,

As soil temps have risen into the low sixties here in southern Indiana, we are all beginning to believe that Mother Nature has set our bermuda back. I take care of a zoysia course that has bermuda encroachment in our fairways. After no green up to several of these areas, I have decided to be proactive and take advantage of the winter injury and sod out all of these injured bermuda areas back to zoysia. It is a huge undertaking for my staff but more importantly I am trying to keep the negative vibe away from my membership. Can anyone provide me with any newly written articles about warm season turf and the winter of 2013/2014? Is everyone else seeing a large amount of winter injury? Thanks.

We are experiencing quite a lot of winter kill on our greens down here in Texas this year. I am on four temps as we speak. I wouldn't think that if ambient temps in your area are only in the 60's that your Bermuda would be very active. Our Bermuda has been green since mid march but is just now responding to fert due to soil temps. If we had winter kill im sure you guys do as well.

Jeffrey, this might not be the type article you are looking for, but it shows the speculation of warm season winter kill that might help you discuss this with your members/management. I am sure there will be more articles popping up soon, as we are hearing of loss throughout our area.

In East Tennessee we have areas that are showing some signs of recovery that we were not sure were going to recover even a week ago, however we do have areas that we are planning on having to repair.
