I am located in southwest Florida and was looking for some info regarding the application of N on Champion greens. I was wondering the amount of N that those of you who are working with Champion greens are applying and in what form? Granular and/or Foliar. This is my first experience with Champion and have been maintaining Tifeagle for about 6 years. Any other advice would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

I worked with Champion here in southwest Florida for four years and N was used sparingly at best. We would apply N granularly post aerification at .25 lb/M and that was all. We did use a foliar on a weekly basis with .10 lb./M of N with our Primo and minor package.

    Average about .25 # /1000 every 2 weeks (6.5 #/1000/year) granular and .05 #/1000/week foliar (2.6 #/1000/year). Champion in West Central FL.

Steve, I'll be happy to send you my fertilization spreadsheet, just send me your email address.
I spray weekly but no foliar N, granular N only every two weeks.
I'm not sure where you are located, but I would suggest that you call Erich Slider, he has a lot of accounts with guys who have had a lot of success for a long time with Champion greens.

    Regards,

    Steve

Those putting out granular N on your Champion, are you using standard greens grade, or the ones like the Contec DG that quickly melt down?

If using standard GG, are you skipping buckets the next day?

    Just curious...

I just use standard greens grade fertilizers and mow with no buckets the following day.

I use a 90 SGN from Agrium (12-2-24)and out of habit mow without buckets the following day. We are never producing much clippings so it doesn't create a mess anyways.
