We have had a couple of issues lately with joy riders on the golf course driving over greens, in bunkers and stealing pins. Anyone use a camera preferably battery operated that could catch someone in the act? Not sure about type or efficiency of cameras to record someone from 50 + yds away. Thanks for any thoughts!

A lot of peopl are using the game cameras which has night vision on them also. MAke sure it get placed high enough so they cannot see or reach it though.

I had a four wheeler on my course Sunday. thankfully a member that lives on the course saw him and stopped him before he got to the green. he left 1 track on the slope but the kicker is that the police where called by the home owner and he came to the club in which they called me and put him on the phone. He wanted to know if we wanted to file a report. I ask him if they had caught him and he said no! then he said they are not allowed to chase a four wheeler under any circumstances so as long as he was running around on it they could not catch him. This was just plain stupid in my opinion! So I told him why make a report if they cannot hope to catch him? I said I would just repair the damages and hung up.

We've got a couple of these floating around. Black LED = won't be seen while snapping photos. The pictures are amazing, day or night. What's nice is the date and time stamp so if it is a repeated offender, you know when to have the cops stake it out. Just don't put where a branch or moving grass will set the camera off, otherwise buy a lot of batteries.

    Andy,

How do you know when the camera has detected something? Is it wifi synced or do you have to actually look at the camera. I too would like to install something comparable around my shop.

We check it every morning to grab the SD card, then turn it off during the day. We turn it back on before leaving after reinserting the SD card. This is to save the battery on to not take pictures of everything that moves. On Fridays, we turn it on and let it run all weekend, checking it Monday. When you open the front door, it will tell you how many photos it snapped on the screen.

I want to say I saw a couple that were wi-fi or bluetooth synced. But remember they were a lot more money.
