I have been grinding reels just about all my life with one of these machines and like the old girl. but for some reason when cutting from right to left cut good on the way back nothing. I have been messing with the pitch on the head, clock wise and and so on. just not sure what it could be. all my roller bearing are good and im set square. after im done with a reel they seem to come out alright just taking a long time to do one.

What model # is the grinder?
It almost sounds like you have some loose hardware and as the weight of the grinding head gets to the left side of the machine things are shifting.
Once you move the grinding head from left to right, with no stone contact, will it then make stone contact moving from right to left without an infeed?

    Glad to help Steve.
Something else to consider with this would be to re level your grinder with the adjustable feet. If shifting weight from side to side causes a twist in the grinder, my best guess would be that the floor isn't a perfect piece of concrete.

thanks again even better. I had set the unit up on 6x6 so I didnt have to lean over as much and washing out the shop floor the water made the wood swell and no longer stayed level as should be. also the plate which holds the head and motor, their are two hex bolts that hold it to the frame were loose for some reason , any way put that all together and see is working good. thanks so much again
