This post is in Shop Talk as well. Has anyone ever used 12 volt deep cycle marine batteries as a replacement for 12 volt golf cart batteries? Any concerns? The ones from interstate for golf carts are out of this world high. Almost 3 for 1 of the deep cycle marine. Thanks

We've been getting the Rayovac batteries through batteries plus. 8 or 12 volt, entire set, with them installing, is around $560.

    Thanks Andy,
Have they been holding up good for you? I was told locally that we could use Deep cycle marine but wasn't sure. $560 is not too bad for a set. Have prices as high as $280 per battery. Marine batterires are $120 each locally. I'll check batteries plus.

I take that back, they were Panasonics from Battery Source.

We've got two sets in our ranger carts that are going on two years now. Both carts run non-stop. Not a single issue. We've since been replacing in some of our other owned carts and so far no problems.

I get wholesale pricing by going directly through a Trojan distributor. The T-1260 plus w/ core return run about $129 and the T-1275 are running about $133.

This is the master distributor closest to you. Call them and see if they can help.

Thanks Keith. I was having a very hard time finding the batteries, reasonably priced anyway. I'll call them soon and see if they can help me out. Thanks again.

We went through this a few years ago when our interstate rep told us a deep cycle would work. Long story short they were great for a month and then 18 holes was a struggle. Since we had "used" batteries the return was a hassle and ended up leaving a bad taste on the owners mouth when it comes to interstate.

It has something to do with the amp hours on a deep cycle compared to a golf cart battery. We have a few with interstate batteries in them and the entire fleet has Trojan and they all are great as long as they are a cart battery. The 12 volt batteries seem to have a lot more issues than the 8 volt, and notice some have switched back to the 8 volt again.
