We've got the opportunity for a new tractor and one of the quotes that came back was for a tractor with a cab. We've never had a tractor with a cab before, I guess due to cost and fears of ball damage. I'm sure the operators would love it, anybody got any pros or cons to offer? Thx

We have a big Kubota 6040 with a cab that we love. Make sure it has a good AC system for down your way. Our has a good heater and AC. If you have a lot of low hanging trees it can be more of a nuisance that a fold down roll bar. We use ours primarily for topdressing fairways with the MH400 and plowing snow
They can be a little tougher to work on especially if you have to replace a clutch.

I had a chance to get a nice enclosed tractor. Full A/C, heat and radio. Would have been used primarily for aerification and spreading fertilizer. Wasn't too worried about trees or golf balls. But, the price I received was about $5,000 more for the cab, so we opted for a larger HP tractor for the extra money. Glad I did too.

Well, in this case the one with the cab also has more HP. Got a good qoute for Kubota M6060 and he threw in a quote for a M7060 with cab that is tempting me. In addition to the cab, for the price bump you also get a little more HP, 12F/R vs. 8F/R, 540 economy option, and bigger hydraulic pump.

I think it boils down to what we need vs. what would be nice to have. Also, since we've never had a cab before just interested in input from others. Maybe my fear of glass breakage is not rational, maybe it is- just don't have any experience with them.

Price what ones of those windows would cost to replace. Might be the determining factor.

I would of assumed that the cabs comes with shatter proof glass for safeties sake. That does not mean it cannot be broken just should not completely bust out.

I would guess that the determining factor should be if you have the weather conditions to warrant a cab. then if your course is set up to use a tractor with a cab on it. While a cab would be great at my course we have too many trees with lower hanging branches to warrant one. While we have a roof on our current Kubota it still hits an occasional branch but a cab would get really scratched up. I would prefer having a cab on my fairway mowers or even greens mowers where we still cut throughout the winter. If my rough mower had to climb out of an air conditioned cab on a regular basis to move markers or whatever I would find out that they stopped movig the markers (they can get pretty lazy here).
