Are they worth the money, do they work as well as they would lead you to believe, and how well do they work on hydraulic systems? I worry about pulling/snapping tubes?
    Thanks

A shovel and a bucket of sand work best around here. I bought one of those head levelers and got lucky and traded it for a generator.

That's how we have been doing it, but was hoping for a faster/simpler way...alas,I figured as much...but thought that I would check with the experts on here first.

The biggest trick I have found besides using a shovel is to have a jumping jack type compactor. This way the back fill is super compacted around the head and the head will not settle again.

By placing a piece of plywood over the laid cut out sod pieces and head after you are finished and then tamping on top of the plywood with the jumping jack you can perfectly level the sod around the head.

We purchased our jumping jack used for a good price from a rental company. Fairly new they like to replace their inventory before anything gets too old.

    Curtis,
We bought one, and I found we were digging the same heads up the next year. They looked good for a season but it was definitely not a good long term solution.
