Seems we are running to the hardware store a lot picking up nuts and bolts of various sizes and material. I need to find a good supplier that will get us what we need when we need it. Not just fill up a bunch of bins! Who do you guys use for hardware? Thanks

I have mostly used Lawson in the past but there are other good companies out there. Get bins with space for additional items as your needs grow. Get assortments with drawers for lots of other items. You can get ready made assortments or customize specifically for your needs.
Get a Rep who really knows his product line and one you can trust. But Ultimately. he works for you. Don't let auto refill what you don't want!
Start small and stay within your Budget, and add to it monthly. You might or might not save money this way but you will be much more productive.

    Fastenal.

We did a price comparison with a few vendors, and they were by far the cheapest for grade 8 bolts.

Thanks Guys, We had Lawson in here at one time I think. I am going to Fastenal today to pick up some Hydraulic fittings, so I will see what they can do for us.

Having the bins makes a large difference but be ware of the sales people who reorder your stock. I had one place a $3,000 order without our consent because he was leaving before we got the order.

Now I simply buy a box instead of just what I need just to build up my stock. While it may cost a little more per item by buying them at Home Depot I never have to worry about a salesman trying to screw me again.

That's what I like about Fastenal. He asks us what we need, rather than tells us. We bought the bins, and they labeled them for us. And....no shipping when we ship to the store and let the guy bring it out to us.

Our guy said he could get us anything. I stumped him on I.D.10T tags. Couldn't find those, but said he could custom make some for us.

James, had the same thing happen to us one time. Think it was like $6,000 worth of bolts and nuts that we sent back to them.

Andy, You could tag some golfers with those. Buddy used to work in a Verizon store and people would bring in phones with that error daily.

I also always ask if they carry Pen15 lube. Most don't.....

I've dealt with Lawson, Fastenall and Napa before and I prefer Lawson overall for quality and selection. Before getting started with a company I make sure they know I'll drop them real quick if they overstock bins and order things I don't need.
