I need to replace some 150 yard barber poles and the traditional red and blue 100 and 200 yard discs in the fairways. I am looking for some ideas of anything different. We are a nice muni in NJ and need new ones. Any ideas would be appreciated. Standard or out of the box thinking are both appreciated.

We use 2.5" pvc tubes with 3" tubes in the ground to put them in. If you use colored electrical tape you get a good sharp edge and you don't have to worry about the paint fading. Also, depending on what you cut your fairways at I have seen a few people get a way with the spring back markers that Standard sells.

I used the plastic flex stakes from r&r when in PA...replace a few a year due to weathering but worked great for 100,150,200 yds

we have stamped concrete "pavers" that were made in house. We paint them yellow, blue, white and red on applicable holes. they are about 1 foot across and sit just below surface, nice feature when you are standing by them and they are painted. they are stamped with the distance at time of construction. low cost, and you can get creative with the design!! we also have a garden planter with a bottom cut out of it to spray colored marking paint on the fwy to show from a distance where the yardage markers are. We have large boulders on each side of the fairway showing 150 yards to the center of the green as well.

We are using the recycled plastic markers and make our own pieces of pipe for anchors. They are very visible and don't cause us any damage when carts hit them. We make the pvc anchors shorter so that if carts do hit them they have less likely chance of breaking so much of the stake off. Is working well so far.

In the past we used the practice greens stakes and flags. Very neat looking but had to be replaced almost every year.
