We have three 3500-D rough mowers and just noticed that the oldest mower's blades turn when machine is running, even though the cutting units are not engaged. (1400 hrs) This is a very slow turning motion not as if the units are in the operation mode.
At present I am with out a mechanic and am trying to figure where to start my diagnostics for this problem. I suspect a leaking valve, but that is just a guess, and I'm not sure which valve I would be looking for if that were the case. any help in this issue is greatly appreciated.

The hydraulics on today's equipment are under constant pressure even if the valve is in the off position. An example would be the toro 4500d when you start this machine the lift arms flex as to say it's ready. Your pressure by pass on the main valve manifold could be the solution to the problem and to fix it may only require a new cartridge valve. Any toro service tech should be able to steer you in the right direction.
