We got 6 new Flex 2100's exactly one year ago. This spring we started having problems with the machines running very rough. They would loose power and sometimes smoke. We tracked the problem back to the carburetors. We had 2 of the 6 act up within one week and by the end of the following week all 6 experienced similar problems. After some trouble shooting with our Toro friends we were told it is a fuel issue. The ethanol in our fuel, which was only 9% and within the specs for the engine, was building up on the ports within the carburetor causing the machine to struggle to get gas. We cleaned them and were back running for about 2 weeks before the problem struck again. This time we were unable to get some back running and had to have new carburetors to get some going. We have no other problems with any of our other gas equipment.

Anyone else experience similar problems. Toro is sure it is our fuel.

Any other feed back on the new Flex 2100's or the Subaru engines they are now using?

How many guys go with ethanol free fuel only?

    Thanks

We have had our Flex 2100's for about 4 months and have had no issues. We do run 100% gasoline

Ethanol free here. Worth the extra $.10/gallon. Used to have lots of small engine issues with ethanol. Now virtually none.
