I have read 4 or 5 other articles just like this one in the past two months. It pretty well sums up where we are and how we got here. What it does not sum up is what is going to happen next.
My two cents on the matter say that time is the primary issue. We compete for time from family activities, other sports, increased work loads, cell phone apps and social media. Less people are going to play golf in the future because more people would rather do something else that is quicker, easier and not out in the elements.
As more courses close less people are going to play because it will be less convenient to play at the time they want.
