what wetting agents are people using on push up greens? I have 9 push ups and 9 usga greens. I need to find a different product for the push ups because after a rain they puddle real bad. Has anybody had any luck with any penetrating agents?

    Thanks,

I have a very similar situation, and have had pretty good success with Duplex, Logix(ENP), Syringe(Harrells). Sometimes though the best medicine is holes. When the profile is saturated, I don't know that there is anything that will move very much water through clay. However, if your native soil is sandy, any type of penetrant should help.

Penterra by Geoponics is an excellent product @ 2qts/ac once or twice a month. I however have been going out @ 1qt/ac with USGA greens with good results.

    I can't say enough about Floratine's Pervade. 3.25 fl oz / M.

I also agree with Michael on Floratines Pervade. Excellent product that we have been using for 4 years. The issues I have with Pervade is I don't see the results as soon as I would like. Don't get me wrong Pervade is a great product, however I see immediate results with Penterra where as Pervade the results appear within a day or two.

Prevade at the 1.5 oz per 1000 rate is amazing. On a seperate note from the previous post, I am getting good results immediately. Within 2-4 hours I am getting the water in the LDS. Only wetting agent I have found that I will stand by.

I'm not knocking pervade by any means. I have been a Floratine user since 2003. I love the entire line-up of product. However, just try the Penterra one time and see what you think in comparison. It's absolutely amazing what this surfactant can do and how long it remains persistent in the soil.

Can't get Pervade here but can get Propel which has some in it along with humic acid. Active ingredient of surfactants 70+% pervade to 7% propel. Any chance that using propel at 5oz may cause greens to perhaps hold water? Have used recently and everything being the same turf is softer and footprints esp after 200 rounds/day. Application of OARS seems to help. Greens 40 years old push-up with 30 years of topdressing with great sand.

Could the top 3 inches of amended soil over the original cause a perched water table. We Verti-Drain each fall 8-10 inches. Thanks and open to ideas.

On the lighter side we have had bee hives on our course for the last three years and just harvested a bumper crop of 570 pounds from 8 hives and looking forward to fall harvest which should be another 400. Best IPM thing we ever did and we make a few thousand dollars along with lots of member interest.

I've tried most wetting agents on USGA greens and like Respond 3 the best, by far.

    Jason,

I have 11 sand based and 7 push-up greens in southwest Ohio. After trying several wetting agents and in an attempt to keep things simple, I have found that Radius at 4oz/m once a month (May-September) works well on both types of greens. It is too difficult to have separate programs for sand and push-up. I have also used Pervade on a sand based green that is in a low lying, shaded area that never seems to dry. This green has not been watered at night in 3 years. Pervade keeps it dry in the spring and allows me to establish a root system.

    Troy
