Looking into replacing my greens sprayer and this is a machine I've demo'd. Don't know of anyone in my area with this machine so reaching out here to see who has one and how it has performed for them. Will be doing the GPS technology with all bells and whistles. Info and thoughts are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Justin

We purchased a Spray Star 1750 about 9 months ago. No GPS, but it has been a great unit. Just the right size where you can drive it on greens, but also spray fairways.

I'm thinking about purchasing a Smithco Spray Star 2000 sprayer and I'm needing some feedback from anyone that has used them. I've had a Cushman and John Deere in the past and they have done ok. Any problems with the hydrostatic drive or gps/computer problems? Thanks for any feedback.

We have the 2000 (no GPS) and 3180 (with GPS). Very little power when going up hills. If you have a hilly course I would test one on your property before purchasing. Coming off of greens onto hilly surrounds with the 2000 and going uphill on rough or fairways in the 3180 are a struggle and the rate doesn't always stay consistent.

As for the GPS, they will tell you that you can map the hole once at the start of the season and it will be good the entire year. We found that to be untrue. Sometimes the satellite that the GPS works off of can update while you are spraying and cause the rate to be incorrect or not recognize the map causing nozzles to turn on or off incorrectly. We only used the GPS on our fairway sprays and we mapped each fairway before each spray and had no issues once we started doing that. It only adds about a minute or two a hole to spray times which never caused any issues.

The power is by far the biggest issue we encountered with their sprayers.

Im running the capstan spray system on a 5800 you can map while you spray your outline therefore it doesn't cost you that couple minutes just fyi

We map while we spray but we outline each fairway before we start and make the rough a "no spray zone" so the nozzles turn off when they are supposed to.

We have a Smithco 2000 with the GPS and Capstan spray system installed. The Smithco sprayer is not a bad sprayer but it does struggle going up hills, rides very rough, very loud, and you will only be able to spray out the last twenty gallons of water on flat ground. The Capstan system's downfall is the valve used to control your rate cannot keep up as nozzles are turning off and on, which is okay for big areas like fairways, but not ideal for greens. We currently spray with the machine without mapping and use custom made tabs to turn the nozzles off and on. Also, if you spray with many solubles, the plungers on the nozzles will get stuck and you will have the risk of nozzles leaking or sticking on. The positives with the Capstan system is that you only have one set of nozzles that can spray course to fine droplets with a touch of a knob, and they can spray from 10GPA-200GPA at a variety of different speeds.
