Makes it a lot more convienient to decide what classes to take etc..
As international member, never get to see it until after I register.

    Thanks,

    Tim

I'm looking for a price list on the seminars...Need to submit estimated costs in order to apply to travel to the GIS. Would be nice if there was a Justification Package or something along those lines, from the GCSAA to help us get approval from our employers.

    Matthew,

The seminar prices are listed on the conference education page at http://www2.gcsaa.org/conference/educat ... inars.aspx, along with other seminar and education information. GCSAA does have a justification kit for members that will be available in late November/early December and the electronic brochure will be available in just a couple of weeks as registration is opening soon. Until then, you can visit http://www.golfindustryshow.com and click on GCSAA Education Conference to view the most up-to-date information on the conference and trade show.

    Thank you!

    Melissa,

Thanks for the link for seminar cost, would there be a link to the cost of the GIS registration itself?

I clicked plenty of tabs but could not find the answer to that.

    Thanks!

    Mel,

GIS prices will be published later this month/early next month when the brochure is made available. However, if you have budgeting questions please call 800-472-7878 and we will be happy to help with information about specific packages and/or GIS attendee costs.

    Thank you!

Thank you for all the info. For consideration next year, some employers require submission for travel approval by mid october. Probably seems early, but that is the case for quite a few that I know of, including my employer. Might think about moving up the release of GIS info a few weeks to a month, to help guys like me who need to get approval earlier than November/December. Thanks!

    Dear Matt and All,

This is a great "problem" to have, that people are interested in getting set to attend the Educational Conference and GIS. I know that part of the issue in holding back release of the official or final information is to make sure that all speakers, instructors and session topics are "locked in" so as to not mislead or disappoint anyone.

That being said, I agree with you that several employment situations or personal/family budget planning, need 6 months to maybe even a years lead time to plan for such an event/trip. I know that Rhett and GCSAA staff try to balance the get it out early vs make sure it is accurate delima as best they can. I promise that we will look at the process to make sure that we try to help potential attendees such as yourself with "lead time" needs as best we can with possibly "estimated costs (?)" and justification help.

Also I would like to pass along a reminder that although the website and various GCSAA communications have vast amounts of information, we also have 15,000 members with individual needs that sometimes the answers or help is not there or easily found. My personal experience with not being a "modern technology wiz" is the old fashioned phone call to 800-472-7878 (HQ Member Solutions). Never in my 30 years of membership, did I not get a timley and satifactory answer to an question or problem resolved. Our staff is exceptional and will help 24/7.

Please know that any Director would be willing to help and we want to hear if there are member needs that are not being met. I sure hope to see you in Orlando.

Thanks Pete for the update, it is good to hear the process that takes place when planning such a big event.

I will say that, while certain speakers and instructors might pique my interest, it isn't the reason I push to attend, (well except the year Mr. Venturi recieved the Old Tom Morris Award and Trisha Yearwood sang at the President's Dinner, now that was a must attend event). I know I am going to get quality education and speakers (well for the most part), and that doesn't stop me from submitting my request to attend the GIS every year. The point I guess I'm making, from my point of view, the registration price I pay is a good enough value for the event alone compared to other events that I might attend, so speakers and educators don't really factor in to my decision of attending, the overall product is. I will say that having the educators and topics I plan to attend to turn in, hopefully will get my pencil pushers to approve my attendence.

I guess my question is, does the cost of speakers (and I know some can command a high fee), really affect the cost of registration that much when it is spread out over 20,000 attendees?

    Thanks!

    Hi Mel,

Sorry for the delayed response, I have been attending our Peaks & Prairies Fall Conference the last 3 days.

I am not an expert at the exact dollars for everything but in theory you are correct. Speaker fees, even high sometimes, averaged out are not the largest Conference/GIS expense but they are in the top 5 I believe. Largest is building rental then things like busses, F&B etc.

Only a couple more days until the brochure is out and registration begins. There are no special Board privilages as I have not seen anything yet either.

    Have a great weekend.

    Pete

As an update to a previous question on this thread, the Justification Kit for the 2014 Golf Industry Show is now available on the conference website Attendee Services page at http://www2.gcsaa.org/conference/resources/default.aspx.

    Thank you!
