A few days ago my Floratine rep stopped by and mentioned that they now make Magnum Pellets for Pervade. It's a large pellet (about 10lbs) that is to be dropped into the wet well and then put out with the nights irrigation. I have used Pervade on greens this year and love it so I am excited to try this as well. Just wondering if anyone out there has any experience with these or tips, do they work? Don't they work?

The price comes out to a point where I could use these once/week and still be cheaper than the product to boom apply not to mention the savings on labor and fuel. I really like the results I've seen from injecting wetting agent through the system but we aren't in a position to upgrade anything in our antiquated pump station so I'm hoping this works like a thrifty man's injection.

Thanks for any experiences with this product that you can share.

Drop in the wet well? Tell your rep that you want the magnum pellet dispenser. They run about $300 and do not take any special electronics to hook up. I would be concerned as to how much product actually makes it on the course. If a case of the small pellets was 10 lbs (just guessing), how much hand watering could you do with it in a week? Is that one magnum pellet going to actually make a difference over 50-100 acres?

Also, remember that you have to treat the water in the pipe first before it can make it to the area you want to water. So if you put it in your wet well tonight and only water your greens, the first few heads to come on would have little to no product applied and if you did not run enough water to eat up the whole pellet, you will have pervade + water still in your line for your next irrgation cycle.

Sounds like they copied the Naiad Super Pellets and Super Pellet Tower System.

I agree with your concerns Daniel, here was how I was going to go about it based on past experience injecting wetting agent. At a previous course we had a pump to inject the wetting agent so we would run the cycle with the injection tonight then run the same set tomorrow with the thought being whatever gets watered first won't get any the first night but will get what is left in the pipes the next night, not a perfect method I'm sure but we liked our results. The other thing is that I will obviously have to monitor and see how fast it gets used up but I'll only be running on fairways, 25 acres and only water fairways when that is in the system. We only have 2 acres of greens, 2 acres of tees so to boom that out is not a problem, takes an hour and gets us perfect coverage but on fairways where it takes 8-10 hours to spray this could become a real time and money saver if it works.

This fall will be trial time and we'll see how it goes from there. I was just wondering if anyone had used them before.

I've been using the Floratine pellets way before the Naiad ones surfaced.

    Andy,
It could be due to regional distribution issues, and not to get into a pissing match, but I'm pretty sure the Naiad Tower might have been around longer than Floratine has been in business, or close to it.

Can't even say pissing here? It's like sipping, just put the s where the p's are and vice versa.

A sipping match? I prefer to gulp!

In all honesty though....the Naiad's may have been out before. And like you said, weren't marketed to our region. I only know what I know, and that ain't much.
