Anyone using Acclaim Extra on bentgrass greens? Was looking at trying it next year for goose and crab control. Every 2 weeks @ 3.5 oz. is what i'm hearing. Let me know what you think. Located in Va. on pencross, sandbase grns. Anything else working for you, let me know.

We sprayed Acclaim on our bent greens last summer here in Oklahoma. We had a couple of greens with bad goose and the acclaim smoked it. I know a lot of people who use it for crab and they have great results with it also. We sprayed it @ 4oz/Acre.

    Larry,
Was that a broadcast app or spot spray? Also what were your air and soil temps before and within 2 weeks afterwards? Thanks
    Kevin

It was a broadcast application. Sprayed it with our fertility package and primo. Skipped the greens that we wanted to spray with the Acclaim and added it to the tank at the end. We sprayed it first on Sept 7th. 7 days before the high was 103 with a soil temp of 92. On the 7th, the high was 80 and the soil temp was 78. Made a 2nd application 2 weeks later with the high around 82 and the soil temps around 75. Soil temp was taken at a depth of 4 inches. One of my friends sprayed it all summer on his greens in Tulsa. Never had a problem in the 100 degree temps.

It has been my experience that Acclaim is safe at high temperatures. We used to mix with everything and applied in at least 2.5 gallons of water. The only time I have seen a little bronzing is in cooler temperatures (60's). Of course, they may have been due to something else as well (Trimmit, wetting agent, etc.).

To those that have made this app on bent greens, what grass do you have around your greens? I have a few greens with a good bit of goose and I'd love to try this out but I'm all bermuda around the greens. Did you use a sprayhawk to avoid spraying collars?

    Sam,

We had a mixture of common, Tifgreen, and Tifway around our greens. I never noticed much damage at the 3.5 oz / Acre rate.

I agree with Sam on this one. We have a mixture of common and 419 bermuda and never have seen any damage.
