Thought I would give a little tribute to my mom who passed away yesterday.

Back in 1968 we moved to Florida to wait for dad's return home from Vietnam. Mom got a job at the local golf course when it opened in 69 as a cook. When dad got back, he ended up working there as well. Mom would bring me to the golf course when I was growing up (glad they let her do that rather then send me to a day care) which eventually led me to where I am today.

    Thanks, Mom

    Mel

My mother passed away seven years ago from a brain hemorrhage at 76. My Dad passed away twenty years earlier at 56 from a heart attack. My Dad and I were playing golf together; it was December 24th. I have never met any other boys who did this in school, but a group of us voted yearly on who had the best looking Mom. Mine always won!

You're not supposed to think I am good looking Red. I don't know what the women look at, but I have always been popular with them... maybe a little too popular!

Mel, very sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. She obviously was a great mother because she raised a good son like you. I lost my dad five years ago and still think of him everyday I arrive at work since he was also a supt. My mother is 88 and still lives alone. She is healthy but my brothers and I always worry about her falling since mobility is a real factor. We appreciate being so fortunate to still have her around. We will keep you and your mother in our prayers.

    Mel,

Sorry for your loss. I lost my mother over 25 years ago and it's still hard thinking about all the great things she has missed that have happened in that time. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers in the coming days.

Thanks guys for the kind words, I wouldn't have posted about mom if it wasn't for the early years I spent at the golf course which led me to the profession I now enjoy, love, and includes all of you as my friends. It's just kind of funny what influences like my mom and dad were to me not just from their raising me, but from being around the golf courses like they were. Of course if I would have practiced more golf instead of goofing off when I was there I could be folding shirts now.

Thanks again for the nice words.

    Mel
