   Looking to purchase a large portable shop fan +/- 36" diameter. Anyone have any suggestions as to a dependable unit that is not too noisy? Direct drive or belt drive? Looking at agri supply.

   Look at the Port -A-Cool. You can run water through them and they help a great deal. You can find them through Grainger, MSC Direct, Napa, and there are a number of them to choose from. Shop around on for them, and look for the specials.

   I second this. We have a 48" model in one of our shops, an old metal building. It works wonders to drop the working area down at least 10 degrees in front of it. The guys will roll it around to where they are working and have it blow right on them. They'll sometimes even fill the bottom with ice and water to make it even cooler. We paid close to $2k for it about 8 years ago, but worth it.
