Just looking for some suggestions as to what products can be sprayed on newly seeded zoysia. I seeded a tee with zenith zoysia about 8 weeks ago and have had good germination. On the other hand the goosegrass has done better than the zoysia. Just wondering if anyone has sprayed new zoysia. I have mowed the tee several times and hand pulling has worked so far but goose is growing to fast for this with a limited staff. Im leaning toward msma apps but dont want to ding up the zoysia to soon. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

You should be fine with Revolver. Zoysia is very tollerant to these herbicides. What mowing height are you at on the Zenith?

I have mowed the tee three times at .625". The revolver label states Meyer is tolerant but does not list other cultivars. All of my other tees are 419 Bermuda and just this one tee is Zoysia. Very shady and snow and ice stay on it for weeks if we get any in the winter. Figured Zoysia would be my best bet.

I just looked at the Revolver Label and it has Zenith listed on it. Heres a link to the label.

Zoysia should work very well for the tee. I work for Pennington and we sell Zenith. How is the texture of the grass on the Tee, I have not used it on a tee before, glad to know its doing well except for the goose.

    Sam,

Not to be a downer but I have grown lots of zoysia in Maryland/Vrigina area, it has no problem with snow or ice. However you can draw a line where the shade line is from big trees surrounding a tee for instance. I had tried everything to promote it to spread on some tees including trimming up branches of the offending tree. It just needs a decent amount of sunlight to do well. I finally gave up and overseeded with Rye or Fescue mixes.. Bottom line in shade is warm season grasses do not like it I do not care what anyone says in a University study, they do not have golfers foot traffic or golf cart traffic. Bueno Suerte Amigo..

Fusilade is labeled for zoysia grass. My father-n-law has some common bermuda come up in his zoysia lawn. I let him be guinea pig. It worked well the rate is 4oz/A or 2ml/ 1000. Its labeled for goose so maybe give it a shot on a small area. Good Luck

I'll play devils advocate and disagree. I have several small tees surrounded by Live Oaks that Zeon/Zorro Zoysia thrive on maintained at .5" Don't ask a divot to recover in any time less than four weeks, but we have no problem growing it. That being said, I am in South-ish Texas where we have long days in and out of the winter. No experience with the Zeneith variety. I'd be curious to know how it is doing in a couple months.

EDIT: Just to keep with the original thread, I'd go with the Revolver ;) I've seen MSMA ding established Zoysia and would not want any setbacks on a newly seeded tee

Thanks for the replies. I sprayed revolver at the 18 oz rate yesterday. Just wating to see the results. Maybe now I can grow zoysia instead of goosegrass. Thanks again for the help
