I was wondering how close the roller scraper to the roller needs to be? We get tons of grass stuck between them and it very difficult to get out. My initial thought is they aren't close enough together there is about a 1/32 " gap maybe less between the roller and the scraper. I also thought about removing them all together, any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Andy,
I have not used the roller scrapers but we use the roller brush and set it a business card away from the roller. Obviously removing them could allow the grass to build up on the roller and deviate your height of cut. Maybe try setting it a business card distance away and see if you still get the build up.

That is a good idea, I figured you wouldn't want them to touch because the softer of the two metals would wear. I will give that a try. Thanks,

I use scrapers on my LF3400 and have brushes on our Toro 5410 so I get to see both. In my opinion the brushes work 100% better. I do know that not using them will give you a very bad cut especially if you have a lot of morning dew.

As for the scrapers, We built our own scrapers and they actually touch the roller but only due to gravity. you see our scrapers our built to move by using a bolt on each side to mount them to the housing with. you can simply reach down and flip them up our of the way for cleaning or repairs and let them drop back down for cutting. They remove 90% of the buildup without wearing down the rollers. They simply do not work as well as the brushes on the Toro.
