Spring 2016 has sprung? Cancel The title field is required!

   Maybe this would have been better in the Regional section, but I just saw yesterday in Springfield MO Forsythia blooms. At least 3 weeks early from my historical data for the last few years.
   
   In 2015 I was out sick after surgery but in 2014 Forsythia bloomed on March 21st, and 2013 and 2012 I saw it on March 12th.
   
   I'm not panicking yet, but I might push up my pre-emergent apps on everything but greens if I can get out spraying without the wind, don't think I'm going to worry about my fairy ring apps and pre-emergent on greens just quite yet. The USGA sand greens I watch soil temps fluctuate so much, especially at the 2" depth.

   I counted seven Robins in a tree on the golf course last Saturday. That's my sign that Spring is close.

   Very short winter. Despite few cold snaps, ground didn't have much time to cool off--certainly not to any great depth in clay. I had Bermuda greening up in late December/early January (unprecedented? at least in my career). It won't take much for soil temps to reach benchmark temperatures that signal programs to begin. Not going to get crazy, but will try to go out earlier than later within our "normal" window...if it ever dries up enough to do anything.

   That will be the problem this year right? Its going to stay so rainy and wet that just getting product out will be the challenge. May have to hire a crop duster (I'm sure I'll be on some gov't watchlist after that suggestion)

    Finally seeing some temps above freezing. Soon it will be time to tap some maple trees and make some syrup. Looking forward to spring in the North.
