Sprayer question Cancel The title field is required!

   Fine tuning our 97' Toro skid mount sprayer for the season.
   We have in-line pressure gauges on each boom. Note: We long since abandoned the console pressure gauge and main feed line pressure regulator (failed repeatedly) so we set the spray pressure by engine throttle so that we have @45psi going to the 3 throttling valves where we set the outflow to entire boom at 35 psi. We turn off boom 1 and check to see if booms 2 and 3 remain at 35 psi. If not we adjust with the throttle valve. This has worked well for years.
   However, this year boom 2 throttling valve failed and would only allow 20 psi. through. No big problem we just ordered a new one. But we were thinking. Why don't we put in-line 1" PVC 35psi pressure regulators like we use on drip sprinkler systems? They are fairly inexpensive should remain constant and we can check with the in-line gauges. Thoughts?

   Interesting idea...wish I had thought of that. If you decide to go that route, let us know how it works. On paper it sounds good. My initial concern would be how the pressure regulator would handle chemicals and anything with "grit" like fertilizer over time.

   The problem is, all three booms would run at 35psi. Shut one off and the other two would jump. Stick with the individual boom throttle valves.

   I gotcha. Yes, in theory that would work. So...why hasn't anyone else thought of that? Give it a try and let us know what you find out.

   Sounds like all you need is a seal kit for the valve. Easy enough to do, but take you time. Hopefully, the inner metal parts are stainless? Some older ones were not. Perhaps, rebuild the entire bank with seals. Pressure would then be the same regardless of the # of boom sections on or off.
