I have a 6500 D Toro Reelmaster that has recently been blowing the fuses in the panel for the computer controler. It only blows the fuses when the reels are turned on and let down to mow. Has anyone had this happen and if so what fixed it? I have completly taken the wiring harness off to look for shorts but nothing was cut or rubbed. I have also swapped the computers on it with another to check it. Thanks in advance.

We recently had problems with a triplex and after redoing all the wiring, because the manufacture said that was the problem, we found out it was a safety switch. They and other local mechanics were certain it was a short in a wire, but it wasn't.

Technically it is a short in the wiring, just happens to be coming from a switch. I would check the reel solenoids, they can cause the same troubles as the switch did in the previous post. The one thing to remember is wiring is done in circuits just like hydraulics. Look at your schematics and find your reel circuit and look for switches and solenoids and test accordingly. If all check out, then start testing your wires to find the one shorting or grounding out. Always work from the beginning to end, or end back, never start in the middle cause you'll chase your tail. Also, look for the easiest things for first. Generally it's something simple that we usually just overlook.
