So, possibly gonna get a new irrigation system in 2017. We're going to need to demo our current pump house, wet well and intake tube. Anybody got any great ideas for a design for a new pumphouse?

    Regards,

    Steve

After you finish up your perfect design, move all the walls back 3 feet

Low roof 7' is good, that can be removed, for pump pulling, make big enough that all pipe repair and irrigation supplies can be stored, a good work bench for same, lights on wall not roof same reason so roof can be removed, big door 6' to 8' wide, two exhaust fans in case one burns out, floor with grade so never wet, vents with galvanized screens for rats and mice, all electronics masters for irrigation system, lightning protection then add more, air-con unit (s). If you can a small room inside that locks up for whatever you might need.

Make sure floor level is above flood plain. They changed the flood maps for our area and now our pump house sits 18" below flood plain and our insurance tripled. I like all of Keith's ideas. Maybe also add a cigar humidor.

After seeing your shop, I'm sure this new pump house is going to be 30,000sqft with air conditioning and a dog water fountain.

Serious on the air conditioning. Nothing worse than having to troubleshoot a broken pump in a building that hovers around same temp as a Florida attic. Nothing fancy, but insulate and put in a mini-split unit. May add $2,500 to the total cost of the building but be well worth it in the end.

The dog water fountain is the most important part, isn't it?

I think a Seminole Tiki Hut design would be nice. Put in a toilet just in case the local pooping bandit decides to vandalize the joint. A well stocked bar of Sambuca (Dancing Black Lads Brand) so that the alleged pooper doesn't have to break into the clubhouse first.
    Just my two cents worth

I love how you hijacked your own thread, Steve. Jeffy would be proud.

I do tend to go off on tangents, but really, it's Larry's fault.
    I miss Jeffie.
