Steve,
Don't know if what I have will be much help, I do know our Pro Shop will have at certain times of the year, more budgeted because of their hours that they are open. They do operate with almost all temporary people, only 2 on contract, (or 2.6 as listed.) We are budgeted for 4.6 full timers (one a facility supervisor that hasn't been filled, and we carry part of that salary, it is shared among our 3 golf courses, we also split the full time mechanic's salary as well. We are budgeted for 4 FTE's on our course) With a pension and our other benefits such as health, our overall budgeted salary is more then our pro shop. Our 2013-14 budget request is for $259,643 for our full and temp salaries along with benefits. Our pro shop is $228,786. (in ours is a couple of changes of pay grades for the superintendent position and creating an assistant's position, but it is just changing one of our full timers to that position. The other courses budget request for the 2013-14 season will be 18 hole plus par 3, maintenance $401,498, pro shop requested $230,540. The Crown Jewel requested $420,826 for maintenance and $247,650 for pro shop.
For the last years actuals, (2011-12, still waiting for this past year's numbers our new year starts in July) Our total salary with benefits was $191,801, the pro shop spent $208,162. Their does include some bonuses depending on revenue. We are an 18 hole course on about 90 acres in the transition zone. One of our other courses an 18 hole course combined with a 9 hole par 3 which is about 110 acres their actual for 2011-12 was $266,819 while their pro shop spent $206,717. The 9 hole course is lighted and stays open until 10 PM from April to Oct. It has a seperate clubhouse that opens at 5 PM...interesting that they spent less then our pro shop, although we will be open till at least 9 PM mid summer. Our other course is the "Crown Jewel" and host an AJGA tournament along with a Web.com qualifier, they are on about 120 + acres and includes a little 4 hole jr. course on about an acre of land. Their maintenance salary cost were in 2011-12 was $327,790 while the pro shop was $217,884.
Hope those numbers are helpful.
