Just wondering what avenues everyone used to hire a good mechanic.

    Thanks in advance,

Put the word out through your suppliers, call a fellow super who might have a guy who is ready to move up, run an ad on gcsaa.

    Interview carefully.

    Regards,

    Steve

    Motorcycle Mechanics Institute.
If you find somebody from there that is hungry and wants to work he'll be an all-star.
Plus, most those guys already follow NASCAR. That is a must for a good mechanic.
Also, you can always offer a guy down the street more money.
Might be a bit unethical but hey...it will work.

Pilfer a mechanic from you jake Deere or Toro distributor. Pay them well and keep them happy. Don't hire moody mechanics. It is a must to be a team player with that position especially.

I went to mechanic schools to find my mechanic. It was my first time hiring a guy and it has worked out pretty well. The good thing is that they are trained in different areas. My guy was trained in diesle, gas, hydraulics, electronics etc. The training is good, but you are going to have to interview a lot of guys to find someone you think is up to the job. As we know, the mechanic is such an intergral part of the team the right guy is a must.
