We have a John Deere 2500 A we use for tees, we have noticed that the front reels are not lifting all the way and causing the rear rollers to drag a bit. We have noticed that the reels no longer lift all the way to the stop points above the arms, and we do not see any adjustment and think the only way to fix this is to replace the bushings inside the lift arms on the frame. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

Just a few thoughts that we have done.

Yes bushings in the lift arms could be shot. But you should be able to tell that by the play in the arm when the reels are down, also check the bushings in the front yokes of the lift arms those could be bad. Second, is your lift cylinder sucking in all the way?? Could have a seal inside going bad. Only way to fix that is a new one, been there done that, no seal kit for that cylinder. Finally a cheat for raising the back rollers is shorten the lift chain on the backside of the reels.

we built up the inside of cylinder loop with a little weld (1/4" or so) made a big difference.

    Chad:

We had problems with our 2500 at my last club. Our John Deere rep gave us a larger tire that will fit the rim your machine has on it. This made the mower tall enough to keep the reels from dragging.
