We use megalugs and ductile on all fittings 6" and up. We'll use 4" PVC knock-ons and tees for repairs, but if new, we go megalugs and ductile. No concrete. No thrust blocks.
I know they are more expensive, but man, we don't have that "let's see if it holds" mentality anymore. We fixed a leak in an 8" on Wednesday using two repair sleeves and megalugs. In and out of the hole in about an hour and fired everything back up. No need to worry and no waiting on concrete to dry. Megalugs are the industry standard for water and waste water, so I always wondered why golf doesn't use them as frequently as well since we operate with a higher pressure and more pressure fluctuations during a cycle. Also, these types of fittings are more readily available for us here and we don't even keep any in stock. The store is right around the corner.
