How many of you are conducting weekly safety meetings? If not weekly how often if at all? And those of you that are having meeting where do you get your topics?

My previous employer had a great book called "tailgate topics" and it had 52 quick meeting topics with a sign in sheet...wish I had the wherewithal to procure on on my way out... ;-)

    Curtis,

Here is a link with good topics. Pretty broad spectrum.
    Its a great start.

Since our old supervisor was promoted to Assistant Parks Director, our new Superintendent of Operations has us doing a meeting per month.

I took some info from our pesticide recertification class on labels, MSDS sheets, PPE's, and laundering clothing this month. Next month we get a freebie when everyone goes through AED/CPR training from our fire department.

    Curtis,

Although we strive to do them weekly, sometimes it just doesn't happen. But, most of the time we can put the weekly "safety agenda" up on the board with a sign in sheet for after they read it. At least bi-weekly as a minimum we'll meet in person. We get a lot of our topics from our safety officer, but also use http://www.safetytoolboxtalks.com as a good source for ideas. We also like to keep them seasonal and relevant to current events or past accidents.

We have regular meetings that are about 30 minutes long every other week on paydays. Our topics cover a wide array of things including basic safety and equipment operation, various policies and procedures, basic first aid and heat and sun related issues. In our case several of the topics are required annually by the City and we often have them presented by other staff from various city departments. For example, our meeting tomorrow is on the use of AED's and will be presented by our Risk and Insurance Manager.

We have the various senior staff lead meetings on a rotating basis and have the topics posted well in advance so they can get printed materials or videos to show as part of the discussion. We also use these meetings for staff to raise any concerns they may have or to discuss upcoming events or projects on the courses.

Thanks Andy for that link, it will come in handy down the road.
