Riding lawn mowers Cancel The title field is required!

   My 15 year old rear engine Snapper (a la Forest Gump) has died. I'm looking to replace with a good, cheap mower. Looking for any insight, good or bad.

   I'm assuming your wanting for your home lawn. I have the same mower for my house and does well. I picked it up second hand from local shop $400. Guy brought it in to have something fixed and never came back to pick it up! The underside of the deck still had paint on it, and mower was in great shape. Maybe try that route or just rebuild the one you have. What died on it?

   Valve seat keeps popping out. Mechanic at other shop says Loctite High Temp and "glue" it back in place. Not sure how that'll work.

   Gotta go with Steve on this one. I had a two acre lawn in Jupiter Farms, FL. My ex overruled me on buying lawn equipment. She found someone who would mow, edge and trim everything for $40 per week. It would have taken me an entire day.

   Steve occasionally gets one right and this is one of those times. My wife still thinks we are eventually buying a mower to do it ourselves, but not if I can help it. I pay $95 a month to have my 44,000 sq. ft. lot mowed weekly.

   Go to Northern Tool and buy a new Tecumseh 10 hp for $400 and slap it on. I was on my third motor on my 28" snapper. Those things are great, most hardware stores carry the parts and they are very simple to work on.

    Just bought a Snapper off of C-List. 33" deck B&S 11hp. Good mower!
